The Red Road Lodge is a 47 room former SRO (single room occupancy hotel) that was constructed in 1886. It sits on Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene people as well as the traditional homeland of the Metis nation .During the first 100 years of operation it earned a well deserved reputation of being the toughest bar on Main Street. In 2003 it was purchased by Richard Walls and converted into an abstinence based, supportive housing facility for homeless and at-risk individuals. Leading neighbourhood revitalization and community development the Red Road Lodge has created a unique environment using arts, culture and life skill programming as a catalyst for change helping rebuild lives and the community.
